11/56 R. F. Bremner NZEF
NZTSM - Sgt. R. F. Bremner NZEF
The NZ Territorial Service Medal awarded to Sgt R. F. Bremner NZEF in 1920.
Ralph Featherston Bremner served in the Wellington College Cadets before enlisting in the 9th (Wellington East Coast) Mounted Rifles in 1911. He attested for service in the NZEF in August 1914, and sailed with the Main Body. He served on Gallipoli from May to early August 1915, before being invalided to the UK, suffering from dysentry. He transferred to the NZ Field Artillery, Ammunition Column in 1916, serving on the Western Front until November 1916, when he returned to England to undertake officer cadet training. Bremner does not appear to have been successful in gaining a commision, and he remained in the UK for the remainder of the war, serving with the Army Pay Corps. He was issued the 1914-15 Star, British War Medal and Victory Medal for his service. Bremner's Territorial Service Medal was issued to him in June 1920.
Medal is engraved to 11/56 SGT. R. F. BREMNER N.Z.E.F. (1919). It appears to have had a replacement suspender fitted - possibly from a British War Medal.
