  • The scarce Natal 1906 and NZEF pair to Sgt. Alfred Peters, who served during the Bambatha Rebellion in Natal 1906 and was wounded whilst serving with the NZEF in 1917.

     

    Alfred Peters was born in Bolton, Lancashire, England on 11th March 1877. He served with the Durban Light Infantry during the Bambatha (Zulu) Rebellion of 1906. Peters attested for service with the NZEF in June 1916, serving on the Western Front with 3rd (Auckland) Company, 3rd Auckland Infantry Regiment from May 1917. Wounded 18th October 1917 and evacuated to the UK suffering from a gunshot wound to his left arm. Discharged in New Zealand in October 1918. Alfred Peters died at Hawera on 30th August 1965.
