NZEF Trio and Gallipoli Medallion - 4/1334A - Skinner
The 1914/15 Star trio and Gallipoli Medallion issued to 4/1334A V V Skinner, NZ Field Engineers.
Vincent Skinner was born in England on 29th October 1891, and at the time of his enlistment in August 1914 he was working as a fitter and turner in Invercargill. He embarked with the Otago Infantry Battalion but sometime prior to April 1915 he transferred to 1st Field Company, NZ Engineers. He landed on Gallipoli on 25th April 1915, and served continuously until being invalided to Malta in September 1915 suffering from enteric. He was subsequently invalided to New Zealand and discharged in early 1916. During the Second World War Skinner served with the National Military Reserve, receiving the 1939/45 War Medal and NZ War Service Medal in 1950. These are not with the group.
Vincent Skinner died at Gisborne on 4th June 1954. His Gallipoli Medallion was claimed in July 1967.
All three medals are correctly impressed 4/1334A SPR. V.V. SKINNER. N.Z.E.F. and the GM is correctly engraved V V SKINNER.
