NZEF Trio - 10/62 Henry - Wounded
The 1914/15 Star trio awarded to 10/62 Andrew Henry who served on Gallipoli and was wounde in France.
Andrew Henry was born 28th March 1890 at Dunedin, New Zealand. Son of Richard and Martha Henry (née O'Kane). At the time of his enlistment in August 1914 he was working as a station hand at Takapau in the Central Hawke's Bay. He embarked with 17th (Ruahine) Company, Wellington Infantry Battalion and was a first day lander on Gallipoli in April 1915. In mid-May 1915 he dislocated his knee in action and was evacuated to Malta and then to the UK. On recovery he returned to his unit in Egypt in January 1916. He transferred to the Western Front in May 1916, and was wounded at the Somme on 16th September 1916, suffering a gunshot wound to his arm. He was evacuated to the UK, and spent the remainder of the war working at Sling Camp. He was promoted to lance-corporal in 1918. He returned to New Zealand in 1919 and was discharged.

Note, the Victory Medal is named the correct way up - unsual for these medals named to the NZEF.
