Korean War group to 208160 Thomas Stanley Anderson of 10th (NZ) Transport Company, NZ Army Service Corps.
Thomas Anderson was born in 1925 at Riverton, New Zealand. Son of Alexander and Bridget Anderson (née Breen). He was working for state forestry when he enlisted for service with Kay Force in 1951. He embarked on S.S. Wahine, and was on board when the ship ran aground on Masela Island on 15th August. The ship was a total loss, but no lives were lost in the grounding. The two photos in this listing show the Wahine departing for Korea in 1951 and an image of her grounded at Masela Island. Anderson served overseas for 1 year 328 days, returning to New Zealand in August 1953.
Thomas Anderson worked as a driver at Riverton and Tuatapere after the war. He died at Riverton on 29th November 1997 and is buried in Riverton Cemetery.
