The Korea Medal and UN Korean War Medal awarded to Gunner Trevor McDermott of the Regimental HQ, 16th Field Regiment, Royal New Zealand Artillery.
Trevor McDermott was born 25th January 1926 at Gisborne, New Zealand. Son of William John and Betsy Jane McDermott (née Phillips). He was working as a farm hand at Te Karaka when he was ballotted for service with 2nd NZEF in 1945. McDermott served with J Force in Japan (664776 Private, New Zealand Army Service Corps). He served in Korea with the HQ element of 16th Field Regiment from 31 December 1950 until August 1952.
Trevor McDermott died 10th February 1997 at Katikati, his wife Marjorie having predeceased him by two years.
Both medals are correctly impressed 206325 GNR. T. McDERMOTT. This lot also comes with McDermott's dogtags from both of his service periods.
