Ceylon Volunteer Service Medal 1914-18 issued to George Noel D'Esterre Stockdale, who served on the Western Front with the East Kent Regiment (on attachment from the West Kent Yeomanry).

G.N. D'Esterre Stockdale was born in Switzerland in 1893 and was working as a planter in Ceylon at the outbreak of the First World War. He arrived in London in November 1914. He married in October 1915 before deploying to France in January 1916. He died in Ceylon (now Sri Lanka) in July 1945.
