The 1914/15 Star trio issued to 5/664 Francis Correll, who served throughout the war on the Western Front with the NZ Army Service Corps.
Francis Correll was born 7th January 1882 at Christchurch, New Zealand. Son of William Rebecca Correll. At the time of his enlistment in 1915 he was working as a clerk for the Mutual Life Company in Wellington. He embarked with the 8th Reinforcements, NZ Army Service Corps, landing in Egypt in time to qualify for the 1914/15 Star. Francis served throughout the entire war on the Western Front with No. 2 Company, NZASC other than periods of leave in the UK. After the war, Francis continued working as a clerk, eventually retiring to Hamner Springs. He died 7th March 1966 in Christchurch. He does not appear to have been married.
The 1914/15 Star and the BWM are correctly impressed 5/664 PTE. F. CORRELL. N.Z.E.F. The Victory Medal is similarly impressed, although there is a mistake between the "Z" and the "E" where the dot has accidentally been replaced by a "/".
