The 1914/15 Star issued to 16/785 Poi Wereta who was wounded in action in June 1917.

Poihipi Te Hua (Poi) Wereta embarked with the 2nd Maori Contingent in mid-1915, and served in Egypt and France. He served in the field in 1916 and 1917 before being wounded in the back and legs on 19th June 1917. He was evacuated to the UK, not returning to his unit until April 1918. In July 1918 he was evacuated sick to the UK, and then returned to New Zealand for discharge. During the Second World War Poi served as an LAC with the RNZAF is likely entitled to the 1939/45 War Medal and NZ War Service Medal.
