The superb Royal Navy (WW21), Kayforce (NZ), and Malaya (NZ) group awarded to Kenneth Ronaldo Lewis. The information given here was kindly provided by Howard Chamberlain, author of the book The New Zealand Korea Roll Honoring Those Who Served in the New Zealand Armed Forces in Korea 1950-1957.
Born Swansea, Wales. Previous service in the Royal Navy during WW2. Prison warder for some time before joining Kayforce. Emplaned Wellington on TEAL flight to Sydney, and deplaned Iwakuni 27 Aug 52. Emplaned Iwakuni 5 Jun 54 for RTNZ and deplaned New Zealand 9 Jun 54. Discharged from Kayforce 12 Aug 1954. Later served in 1 Bn NZ Regt in Battalion Headquarters. Awarded 1939-45 Star, Atlantic Star, Italy Star, Pacific Star, War Medal 1939-45, Korea Medal, UN Korea Medal, GSM 1918 clasp "Malaya". Discharged from the Army circa 1958-59.
The Korea medal and UN Korea medals are correctly impressed 208739 DVR K.R. LEWIS and the GSM Malaya is correctly impressed 208739 PTE. K.R. LEWIS. NZ REGT. All the other medals are unnamed.
